Phases of Isolation
- Published on June 08, 2021
A word which is now being given credit to, by the whole universe, is 'woman'. The twenty-first century has been recognized as the 'Women's Era'.
The Global Woman's Constitution has proven facts to encourage a global reach to liberate women, even in India. For instance, a life that is experienced by girl can change in seconds, minutes, months, or even in a span of a year. When a girl is born, as she matures with time, she becomes a teenager, a young lady, and then a woman gradually gaining wisdom over the years. These phases can be liked or disliked within the cultures, however, there are ways of empowering & nurturing a girl to a woman with respect, appreciation, and loyalty in India's modern cities and rural villages. But most women have to face is 'Emotional isolation' where she is unable to share her emotions with others sadly these "others" can include her family members sometimes and we all know how without emotional support, they may feel "shut down" or numb.
Covid19 has taught us many life lessons. And the pain of isolation is indeed an important lesson we have learned during these tough times. In this article titled 'Phases of Isolation' we aim to bring your attention to the pain our sisters, our wives, our moms, and our grannies have been experiencing for centuries as they are forced to remain indoor ISOLATED from the world outside, ISOLATED from their dreams and ISOLATED from their happiness.
Why are girls shamefaced when they change their pads during school hours?? Many are forced to leave their studies due to their incapability to handle their 'periods'. Their guardians often turned as their extreme oppressors. A young girl ending her life because she was shamed in school for the period stain on her uniform is absolutely unacceptable. A teacher humiliating a female student for a period stain in class is UNACCEPTABLE!!
The teenage phase is an exciting time in every teen's life. This phase can also be a confusing time, as they try to come to terms with physical and emotional changes. But at this time many young girls face mental and physical harassment and they are too horrified to share such things and express themselves. This makes them feel isolated on the inside. Why are they unable to reach out for help???? This helplessness affects them very deeply.
This is the time when a girl reaches puberty and starts with her menstrual cycle. But it is seen that people have orthodox thinking and treating menstruation as a disease. This gives them a reason to banish girls and women from society when they bleed. Periods are not a new thing and have always been there since the beginning of the Earth, even then people consider it a taboo to talk about!!
Girls in villages are forced to live in small huts when they bleed. This can raise a question in a girl's mind that why she has to live isolated from society. "why do I have to live like this in small huts??? Why am I not allowed to visit temples? Why can't I water plants and touch flowers? Why am I treated as impure as I menstruate???” WHY??
"I want to know the true and inspirational story of a girl who refused to live isolated from society, who refused to take sanitary pad in black polybag, who entered in temple, who continued her study, who played in the ground without any fear of blood spot, who took a bloodstain as a fashion, Tell me about all such true inspirational stories so that the next time when I bleed I will not be isolated from my dream and be perceived as a disease.
India's supreme court has agreed to review its landmark judgement allowing women of menstruating age to enter a controversial Hindu Shrine.
